Hosting terms

These terms apply when you choose Get it live and we put your site online for you. The general terms and licence apply as well.
What you get
- $300 to put it live. We register your domain with you as its owner, host your site, put it online with a secure (https) address, and look after it for the first year.
- $99 each year after. Renewing your domain and hosting, and keeping the site running.
- $30 for each change we make for you. Most take 15 minutes. Bigger jobs are quoted first, at $120 an hour, and nothing is charged until you agree.
All prices are in New Zealand dollars.
Paying
Get it live asks for the $300 by card through Stripe. It is held on your card, not taken, while we check your domain and anything else that needs agreeing, usually within a day or two. Once we go ahead we take it, and Stripe emails you a receipt. If we cannot go ahead, we release the hold and nothing is taken; your bank shows it gone within a few days. We do not see or keep your card details. Your site goes online once you have approved it.
Your domain is yours
We register the domain with you as the registrant. If you leave, we give you what you need to move it (its transfer code), free.
Which domains are included
The $300 and the $99 include one domain that is free to register, at its standard yearly price, in a common ending such as .nz, .co.nz or .com. Not included:
- a name someone already owns, which can only be bought from them, at their price;
- a name the registry sells as premium, which costs more even though nobody owns it.
If the name you want is one of those, we suggest names that are free, or you can pay the difference. If you already have a domain, you keep it where you bought it and keep paying for it there. Its DNS has to be served from our Cloudflare account for the site to work, so we move the nameservers with you, bringing your existing records (such as email) across first.
Renewing
We remind you before each year's renewal. If a renewal is not paid within 30 days of its due date, we may take the site offline. We tell you before we do, and we do not let your domain lapse without asking you first.
Availability
Your site is hosted on Cloudflare's network, which is very reliable. We aim to keep it online all the time but cannot guarantee it will never be unavailable, including while we or Cloudflare carry out maintenance.
What goes on your site
You are responsible for everything on your site, as the general terms say. If we get a complaint that something on it is unlawful, harmful or someone else's, we may take that content down, or suspend the site, while it is sorted out. We tell you when we do.
Leaving
You can leave at any time. We give you your site as a folder you can put online anywhere, and your domain's transfer code, free. The licence to use the design carries on.
Refunds
Once the $300 has been taken: if we cannot deliver what you ordered, we refund all of it. If you change your mind before your site goes online, we refund the $300 less $11, which covers the card fees we are not given back, and less what a domain we have already registered for you cost. Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Yearly fees are not refunded part way through a year.
Changes to prices
We give you at least 30 days' notice of a price change before it applies to you.
Our liability
We are not liable for lost business, lost profits or any indirect loss, including from your site being unavailable. Our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. You are acquiring this service for your business, so, as far as the law allows, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply, and nor do sections 9, 12A, 13 and 14(1) of the Fair Trading Act 1986. We both agree that is fair.
