This is what the Train Effect website builder collects, why, and what happens to it. It follows the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect, and why

• Your draft. What you type into the builder and the pictures you upload. It is saved on your device. If you ask for a link, it is also kept on our server so you can come back to it, for 60 days after you last save it and no more than six months from when you started it.
• An email address for a link back to your draft. Used once, to send the link. We do not keep the address. We keep a scrambled fingerprint of it (a hash) for one day, only to stop anyone sending too many emails to one person.
• Your email address when you ask for your site. We email the link to download it there, and keep the address with the site you built so we can follow up about it, and so we can tell whether the link was used. We will email you once or twice more at most, and every email tells you how to unsubscribe.
• Your order, when you choose Get it live. Your site's details, kept to build, host and invoice it for as long as we host it. When you pay, we keep Stripe's reference for the payment, the amount and when it was paid, but never your card details. Invoices and payment records are kept for seven years, as tax law requires.
• Technical logs. Your internet address, briefly, to keep the builder secure and limit misuse.

Who else sees it

We do not sell or share your details. Three companies handle them for us: Cloudflare, which runs the builder and stores drafts, orders and sites; Resend, which sends our emails; and Stripe, which takes your payment and holds your card details so that we never do. Each may store data outside New Zealand, under its own privacy and security commitments.

Your site's visitors

Sites made with the builder have no tracking, no cookies and no forms, so we collect nothing about the people who visit them.

On your device

The builder keeps your draft in your browser's storage so you do not lose it. It does not use tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

• Drafts: 60 days after the last save, and never more than six months.
• Pictures you upload: while a saved draft, an order or your site uses them; otherwise 60 days.
• Email fingerprints: one day.
• Download details: until you ask us to remove them, and no longer than two years.
• Orders: while we host your site. Invoices and payment records: seven years.

Seeing, correcting or removing your details

Email us and we will show you what we hold, correct it, or remove it. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
